Chinoiserie Inspired Wedding Shoot by Cavin Elizabeth Photography

"Chinoiserie derives from the French word chinois, meaning “Chinese”, or “after the Chinese taste”. It is a Western aesthetic inspired by Eastern design."

Art comes in many styles and forms and today's editorial is celebrating the history and beauty of Chinoiserie. Captured by Cavin Elizabeth Photography, and designed by Kristi Lee of Details Details, this stunning shoot truly brings to life and celebrate the Chinese art which was very popular during the 17th and 18th Centuries.

From Kristi of Details Details: It was an honor to put together and curate this editorial shoot for Rancho Valencia alongside an incredible team of vendors. Shot by Cavin Elizabeth on the beautiful Croquet Lawn against the natural surroundings, sunny blue skies and luxurious mediterranean resort vibe… it couldn’t have been a more perfect setting! This shoot was inspired by the intricacy and exuberant design of chinoiserie architecture. We chose a color palate of french blue, cool greys and natural hues to balance the contrasting bold patterns.

The invitation from Written Word Calligraphy was homage to the history of chinoiserie paintings and provided the perfect compliment of modern yet absolutely romantic finishes. We wanted the ceremony to be organic and airy while immensely graceful and refined. Lush and abundant loose florals atop cream urns by Compass Floral and upholstered french dining chairs from The Chiavari Guys certainly brought this vision to life.

We chose a whitewash cream table from TBD Rentals as the basis of our reception that provided a platform for the intricate handmade Italian chargers from Plate Occasions and hand calligraphy place cards that added much detail and texture. The bronze cutlery and crystal glassware from Hostess Haven paired perfectly with the antique gold tapered candles and glass etched votives alongside organic floral arrangements that lined the table.

The end of the day was just as sweet as the intricate cake Sweet As Bliss created and refreshing as our His & Her drinks courtesy of Please & Thank You Bar.

When people look through a wedding gallery or an album I’ve designed they laugh, cry, and smile like they were at that wedding. Imagine having an even stronger feeling when you see the images I create from your wedding. It’s a powerful form of storytelling your future children will cherish and pass on to their children.

My goal for you is to make you feel comfortable, beautiful, important, listened to, and taken care of from our initial meeting to the day I deliver your wedding album. I pride myself on creating exceptional luxury experiences for all of my couples and can’t wait to do the same for you.

Photography is subjective. An exceptional experience is not.
