The Prairies meet Tuscany by Esther Funk Photography

We are in awe today of this gorgeous Prairies meets Tuscany editorial from Esther Funk Photography. Captured among the wild grasses and beautiful lakes of our Canadian prairies, this shoot truly showcases so many of our favorite things. A beautiful location, a stunning dress, a sweet couple and that gorgeous light. This team has truly created magic!

The inspiration for this shoot was to bring Tuscany to the Prairies that encompassed modern, romance and elegance. The details woven into the style of this photo shoot were incorporated with our clients in mind - mature, minimalist couple that have an appreciation for travel, nature and style. The focus in selecting vendors was to promote local Canadian talent and products. Traditions matter very little to our couple, Andrew and Sarah; therefore an intimate wedding with their closest family and friends was all they wanted. When it came to choosing their venue, they didn’t have to look any further after they came upon Roslyn Estates, a private estate that encompassed all the natural elements important to them - water, trees, view of the sunset. Both working they knew they would need to have a dynamic team behind them to carry out their vision, leaving them free to enjoy the little extra time they were left with at the end of the day.

For their wedding planning and coordination needs, they entrusted Sharon Webb Events to create a style that would be a reflection of their personality and values, and to seamlessly execute their day. Capturing all the fine details through film and video was of great importance, as they wanted something they could look at and reminisce for years to come. Naturally, they chose to go with none other than Esther Funk Photography and Rhyme and Rhythm. A love for travel and water, they felt that the estates’ dock and natural waterfront was the perfect place to exchange their vows. This became the inspiration for their invitation design created by Jennifer Bianca, who also hand-crafted all of their stationary needs which included the vows, menu and ribbon calligraphy. The cascading flowers in the bridal bouquet, draped flowers on the boat and table centerpieces were designed by Bloom Petals & Gift. They included peonies, roses, calla lilies, anemonies, ranunculas, larkspur, and a few different varieties of eucalyptus. The spirea was in bloom at that time and they were able to forage those locally. Stella Wolfe provided the beautiful handmade silk ribbon incorporated into the bouquet and table decor. There was no shortage of style and elegance. The ravishing bride wore a stunning two piece by Kathryn Bass - silk white Emma crop top with a full black tulle Elle skirt, while the groom was on-point in his sharply dressed customized suit stylized by EPH Apparel. Adding to the couples style was hair by Top Knot Salon and make-up by GLO Make-upStudios. Of course, we can’t forget the couples wedding bands designed by Marni LuHu. Personalization was seen throughout all the details incorporated into the beautifully decorated table setting. The table included a slate hand dyed muslin runner and napkins provided by The Flower Cult. Tucked into each napkin was some bread for guests to enjoy with their individual gourmet oils by Prairie Oils & Vinegars. The silk ribbon was used for hand written guest names and for a ‘thank you’ draped across both sides of the table. After enjoying a savoury dinner, guests were finally able to indulge in dessert. These naked cakes were baked by talented Love Inspires Change - and yes, their taste definitely matched their beauty! Conversations and laughter echoed over the estate, but it wasn’t long before everyone was captivated by the brilliant sunset that was on the horizon; making the perfect time for the couple to continue to their next destination!
